Harvey Golub joined American Express in 1983 as President and Chief Executive Officer of IDS Financial Services (now known as Ameriprise Financial). In 1990, he was named Vice Chairman of American Express and elected a member of the company’s board of directors; President in 1991 and in 1993 elected Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Golub retired as CEO and Chairman of American Express in early 2001.
Prior to joining IDS, Mr. Golub was a senior partner with McKinsey & Co., where he worked on strategy and organizational issues for a number of corporations.
He has been the Chairman of Miller Buckfire & Co. LLC since October 2011. He has been the Chairman of TH Lee Putnam Ventures since September 19, 2001. Mr. Golub serves as an Executive Chairman of Ripplewood Investments L.L.C. He served as the Chairman of The Reader's Digest Association Inc., Sentient Jet, Inc. and Campbell Soup Co. since November 19, 2004. He has been a Director of Dow Jones & Company Inc. since 1997. He has been a Director at Hess Corporation since May 2013. Mr. Golub has been a Member of International Advisory Council of CGI Group Inc. since February 13, 2004. He serves on the Boards of Warnaco Group Inc., AirClic, Hess Corporation, The American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, Dow Jones & Co., the American Enterprise Institute, the New York and Presbyterian Hospitals Inc., the New York City Partnership, and Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of New York City. He serves as a Director Emeritus of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts Inc. and served as its Director. He served as a Non-Executive Director at The Reader's Digest Association Inc. He served as a Director of Warnaco Group Inc. He served as a Director of RHJ International S.A since September 20, 2006.
In addition, Mr. Golub serves on the boards of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Golub attended Cornell University from 1956 to 1958, and received a B.S. degree from New York University in 1961.
